This weekend’s work on the car was bust because of it. I could have started on other tasks for the project, but I have so much up in the air right now that I want to finish these tasks first.

At any rate, I did at least get new valve cover gaskets as well as a small gasket for the dipstick port-hole in the oil pan. The valve covers got installed and the oil pan will get installed a few hours from now. I actually had a spare set of valve covers from a spare set of heads (which have been at DPR Racing for a long time now) which I had sanded, polished and buffed a bit, so I used those.

The last quoted sentence, “Certainly this is a difficult time for all of us, but I am confident that we will emerge better and stronger than ever.”, hints at future plans, but it seems like the writing is on the wall.

Update: They’ve posted a FAQ about the ordeal which clarifies a bit more.

Having used RC Engineering before for injector flow-testing work, I decided to give DeatschWerks a shot this time. I was happy with RC, but their cost was a bit much.

In the image here, you can see what you get for their Basic service with normal shipping option ($77 for 4 injectors). The included lube packet was a nice touch. I’m pleased and will be a repeat customer as needed in the future.

Well, I have gaskets for the intake manifold and TGVs in place. I prematurely installed the intake manifold assembly and realized I could not get the coolant pipe (black, near the RHS head) in place with it on. So off came the intake manifold. After installing the coolant pipe I noticed it looked out of shape at the rear end of it. After referencing some older pictures of my previous work, I saw that it was in fact kinked pretty well. That’ll have to get replaced.

When I went to attach the coolant hard line to the oil heater (sits between the oil filter and block), I realized that the fitment of the hose seemed a bit off. Sure enough, the coolant inlet to the oil heater is also kinked and should be pointing up more. We’ll see about the cost on that. Given that 30-cent o-rings from Subaru cost about $9, I’m sure it won’t be pretty.

The latest pictures for your uh… enjoyment? Clarification?

Does anybody even read this blog?
